Associate Clinical Psychologist

About Me

Hi, I'm Charlotte, a registered Clinical Psychologist with the Health Care Professions Council. I have 10 years' experience across NHS, local authority and charity settings. I have mostly worked in specialist

community services, supporting children, young people and their families with their mental health and wellbeing, including emotion regulation, anxiety, low mood, trauma, transitions, grief, school difficulties and behaviours of concern.

I also have experience working with parental mental health difficulties and complex family dynamics and situations.

I am particularly interested in how early experiences, relationships, and wider systems shape emotional wellbeing, and I aim to work in a way that feels thoughtful, respectful and supportive.

Background

Alongside my therapeutic work, I have over five years' experience completing assessments for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). I have a strong interest in post-diagnostic support, focussing on understanding each person's individual strengths, needs and experience of the world. Within this, I am also experienced in supporting neurodiverse children and young people who are out of education.

My approach

My approach to therapy focuses on the therapeutic relationship and supporting meaningful change. This means that I prioritise creating a safe and compassionate space in which individuals feels able to explore their difficulties develop emotional understanding and learn new ways of coping, alongside identifying personal strengths and resilience.

My work is evidence-based, meaning I draw on psychological research and established therapeutic approaches, while always tailoring therapy to the individual and their context. I integrate approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), as well as narrative and systemic therapy. I do this in a flexible and creative way, guided by what feels most helpful for the young person and their family. Our sessions can involve talking, drawing, playing, writing - allowing space for individual interests.

If you are considering therapy for you or your child or young person, I would be very happy to offer an initial appointment to think together about what support might be most helpful.
